DETAILS

1. Opening session

The meeting was chaired by Prof.Dr. Osman Titrek from University of Sakarya. The partners present at the meeting are listed above. In his welcoming words, he wished everyone a healthy day. He asked the attendances whether they would like to say something to others. He asked the condition of the school related about Covid-19 pandemic. Does the situation turn back normal? When are the schools opened? Prof. Titrek said that it would be a short meeting. Following the opening session, Titrek read the agenda. The meeting focused on the research project, the data collection need analysis, e-book chapters and IP program.

2. The research project

Prof.Dr. Osman Titrek asked all participants when the school were opened?. Prof. Dr. Carlos said that schools would open face-to-face from September 20 in Portugal. Michele stated that the situation in Italy would become clear by October. Prof. Dr. Osman Titrek said that education in Turkey would start on September 27, and some of the classes would be face-to-face and some would be online (hybrid model). Since education in Europe would be face-to-face, we must act immediately in October. In some universities, we should start to do the research projects and activities right away, before education turn back to online education again. Osman asked that “Can everybody manage research activities during October? What do you think? Are there any problem in any partner university?” Prof. Dr. Michelle said that “we will let the face to face meeting with the students. It is compulsory to go in the rooms and teaching face to face in Italy so you must have vaccination. What about the green pass for Turkey?” Prof. Dr. Osman said that "In Turkey, for teachers and academicians, two dose vaccination or two times PCR tests in a week are compulsory to get into 6 universities or schools. Every teacher or academic should take two dose vaccination or bring two times PCR tests' results that must be negative to work in the university or school. Otherwise you cannot teach in the classroom. Unfortunately for the students, it is not compulsory. It is not clear what it is going to be in the future. There are lots of variant of Covid. That's why nobody can give a guarantee of the process. So that the universities will be opened in Turkey and hybrid teaching methodology will be started in the classes. Teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs will be face-to-face. Some selected lectures will be online. This is the process in Turkey. That is why everybody has to start the research project and we have to complete the research practice in October. After October we can start analyzing process. What do you think? it could be possible for everybody? "

3. Data collecting and analysis

Prof. Dr. Osman wanted to know others opinion about the data collection and starting the research practice in October. Prof. Dr. Carlos said that "I think this is desirable. But we should take into consideration that things do not always happen as we hope. So what we should do is that monitor how the data collection is going at the end of October and if we are satisfied with the numbers we can close it and start the analysis. I don't know whether two weeks or three it depends on the data collection it is sufficient or not. I expect to have the data collection launched at the beginning of October. So, at the end of October, we have already a substantial number of answers. So overall I agree with Prof. Dr. Osman Titrek. Let's hope that at the end of October we have the data and start the process of analysis." Moreover, Prof. Dr. Carlos said that "We should agree with the type of analysis. Everybody should follow the same analysis at the end of this. So with the analysis we will perhaps go until December. Is this clear for you?" Then, Prof. Dr. Osman continued speaking as follows "First, we have to complete the formal process and permission by October. Second, we have to practice the research as online and in November we have to start to do the analysis process by December". Prof. Dr. Carlos confirmed that "I think so. There could be an analysis for each country. It must be that each country could make a paper for itself but we also should have a global analysis of data.” Prof. Dr. Osman said that “Yes, we have to combine all the data and create a European general situation as a report. It will be also presented at local and international conferences. We will organize two conferences every year.” Prof. Dr. Osman asked that “Is it clear about application process of research analysis?” Prog. Dr. Malcolm said “Yeah, as I say table will be able to clarify the situation with teaching program but that’s where we are working towards.” Prof. Dr. Osman summarized that an academic paper will be prepared, and this paper will be presented in a conference. And, the paper will be reported to the European Union at the end of the final of the project. This is the first one.

4. Book Chapters

Prof. Dr. Osman stated the second issue is the book chapters. He asked “Has any team started to prepare the book chapter? There is another issue for us. We will prepare an academic book and we decided some topics. I would like to ask any team has started to prepare this book chapters. Prof. Dr. Carlos said that “Of course, we already have the groups that are going to address the each of the subject we sent as a title and abstract. But, I have more concerned and more occupied with the making of the movies, the videos and the lectures for the online course, which I have already finished.” Prof. Dr. Osman said that “It looks like all is okay for Portuguese site and I think English site is, too. What about Italian, Romanian, Latvian site also? Prof. Dr. Jana said that “we have started the book chapter”. Prof. Dr. Michele said that “yes, we also started”. Enrico and Felix also said “Yes, we started as well.” Prof. Dr. Osman Titrek asked Malcolm “Will the book chapters be finished at the end of November? Prof. Dr. Malcolm said that “we have had to review what we wanted to do because we have to fit them for teachers and students not for a academic. So I am doing one on quality frameworks and David is putting together one on creativity. Both of them are underway…”. Prof. Dr. Osman Titrek stated that “he thinks the book chapters are Okey” and asked whether there were any questions? Otherwise, he closed the book issues. The next issue was IP program.

5. IP Program

Prof.Dr. Osman Titrek asked “What do you think about IP program?” and continued speaking “We attended the ICLEL conference last year. Carlos also attended the conference from Portugal. We came to Bosnia from Turkey and different countries during the conference process. If you have a Biotech vaccine, you do not have any problems while traveling by plane. We came back and the flight process was really easy. If you have the paper showing that you have two dozes vaccinations, you will not have any problems on international trips. This is my thought. Therefore, we can organize IP program on January. We can select the students and these students must have two doses of vaccine. The travel could be easy. That’s way we should select the students who have two doses of vaccine and vaccination card.” Prof. Dr. Carlos said that “No problem I faced during the flight and travels. The planes were cleaned after every flight and they distributed a bag with masks and cleaning fluid for everybody to use during the flight. They asked for the European Certificate of vaccination and they asked for PCR and antigen tests the valid within 48 hours. In Portugal, older than 18 years old people, they will all vaccinated until the end of the months. In generally everybody will be vaccinated. Everyone will have the certificate of the two doses of vaccine. It is easy to take the PCR or the antigenic test because even Portugal there are many places deliver this test. Also for us, January is better for IP program because we do not change the classes and it is far better and easier to change examinations. So I would prefer to do it in January.” Prof. Dr. Osman Titrek said that “the first meeting should be in Turkey because Turkey have a really high level vaccination process until now and lots of people vaccinated at least one dose. During the break time, using the dormitories and platforms will be easy. The break time in January could be possible. What do you think Malcolm?” Prof. Dr. Malcolm said that “The travel restriction still has been here. They are very tight and then we have our own restrictions from the university so we would really have to be looking at a country where the rate is now. It means we don’t know if we are allowed to travel so it is still very much uncertain.” Prof. Dr. Osman also asked others the condition, could it be possible in January? Prof. Dr. Dan said that “ January is okay. I will discuss with Felix about the dates for us. It is okay as long as it is possible”. Prof. Dr. Osman suggested possible date “if we accept January, we can organize online classes from 10 to 14. One-week class must be online. We can organize face to face activities from 23 to 29.” He asked others that whether the date is okay. Prof. Dr. Dan said that the date does not work for them. The exams are from the 21st of January until the 13th of February. Students can’t miss their exams.” Prof. Dr. Osman suggested the other option “Alternatively, virtual training could be from 3rd to 7th January and face-to-face training could be from 16th to 22nd January.” Prof. Dr. Dan said that “the second option is better for us.” Prof. Dr. Carlos also said that “It could be.” Prof. Dr. Osman Titrek asked also other colleagues’ opinion about the date. Jana agreed with the second option. She said that “the second one will be better.” Prof. Dr. Carlos also agreed with the second one. Therefore, Prof. Dr. Osman Titrek arranged the IP program as the date for virtual training from 3rd to 7th January and for face to face training from 16th to 22nd January. He asked others “Do you any questions about IP program?”. He reminded that “Please choose the students and academicians who have two doses of vaccine and vaccination card. They can easily pass from the boarders and airports.” The next meeting date is organized as 28 October, 5pm based on Turkish time.

6. Conclusion

Prof.Dr. Osman Titrek thanked all the participants, arranged the next meeting date and wished a nice healthy day.
